April 29

Hello Thoreau Families,
I am thrilled to share the following correspondence from our PE teacher Beth Murphy.  While nothing can replace our traditional field day experience, I think the PE team has put together a wonderful program that I hope you and your children will enjoy.

National Field Day 2020

As many of you know, one of the favorite events at Thoreau each Spring is our Thoreau Field Day.  Unfortunately, as we are not returning to our beloved Thoreau building this Spring, we are not able to hold Field Day.  But wait…..my PE colleagues at Alcott (Mr. Gaudreau), Willard (Mr. Germond) and I have found an exciting at home Field Day.

The National Field Day 2020 is being organized and shared by The On-line Physical Education Network, or OPEN.  This fun filled day will take place on Friday, May 8, 2020 and includes thousands of schools across all 50 states.  It is designed to be a relaxing, fun, family event and please don’t feel obligated to participate if it doesn’t work for your family.

There are over 20 creative games that use items commonly found in our homes.  Linked below is information explaining this fun event, but feel free to contact me with any questions at bmurphy@concordps.org. I will add any other updates or information as we get closer to the event on May 8, 2020.  So explore the activities, practice plans, informative letters and much more and I look forward to having Thoreau be part of this event.
