FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How will my child find their way to the classroom?

Specialist teachers will greet kindergarteners off the bus for the first few weeks of school. Make sure your child's name tag is visible (you will receive this in a welcome letter from me in late August) and your child will be escorted to our classroom.

How will my child know their bus number?

You can find your child's bus number and bus stop in the Concord Journal before the start of school or by calling our transportation department. I will receive your child's dismissal bus number before the start of school and I will escort your child to their afternoon bus each and every day.

What if my child is dropped off or picked up from school?

All children will enter the school together in the morning through the door with the canopy, nearest the office. You can pick up your child at the end of the day by waiting at the basketball court in the back of the school.  A teacher will bring your child to you as long as I have received a note or a call that they are a pick up. If you are picking up your child before the end of the school day, please go to the office and your child will be brought there to meet you.

How do I make a transportation change?

Please send a note with your child, or call the office to notify us of any changes. Please do not e-mail me the day of the change because I may not get a chance to read my e-mail during the school day.

How do I contact Ms. McKenna?

You may send a note with your child or call the office with a message that will be given to me. The easiest way is to send me an e-mail at jmckenna@concordps.org. Please do not leave voice messages on my classroom phone. I appreciate your questions and concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me!

What if my child wants to buy lunch?

Lunch menus are posted on the school website. Children may purchase a hot or cold lunch or just milk. Each child has a lunch account. It is the family's responsibility to make funds available in the account before your child may buy lunch. Each child will have a lunch card which is kept in the cafetaria at all times. I will escort children through the lunch line every long day and I will help them in all ways. Our assistant teacher will stay with the class throughout lunch and lunch recess and provide any support needed. The kindergarten lunch is all kindergarten students only. There is a nut free table available.

Can I send something to school to celebrate my child's birthday?

You are welcome to send a little prize (pencil, bookmark, small toy) for each child in the class to celebrate your child's birthday if you wish. FOOD MAY NOT BE SENT IN TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS.
