I am happy to share that, at last week’s Town Meeting, the CPS budget was passed.  We are thrilled that all elementary students will begin learning Spanish as part of the new Elementary World Language Program and look forward to the hiring process being completed and welcoming a new Spanish teacher to Thoreau! Happy New Year! Coats for Kids: Concord Middle School’s Coats for Kids Club needs our help in collecting coats for Anton’s Cleaners annual Coats for Kids drive.   They are accepting all winter coats – kids, adults and babies – that are in good wearable condition.  They cannot accept vests, hats, gloves or snow pants.   Please donate coats that you would give a friend to wear in our donation box in the lobby.  Coats are being collected through January 6th, 2017.  Thank you for your generosity. With Appreciation: Many thanks to Mr. Lemaire, Mrs. Swain and Ms. Howard for all they put into preparing for our 5th grade students for a spectacular production of Monster Madness!  The cast was incredible and the students in the audience seemed to have as much fun watching as their classmates performing on the stage. I hope your children have had a wonderful first month of school! I have enjoyed reconnecting with them and watching them settle back into the school routine. Thank you to all parents/guardians who attended our Back to School Night and special appreciation to those volunteers who came out to support the PTG-sponsored sale of Thoreau gear.   We are off to a great start and look forward to another fabulous year. After a snowy start to this week, I am looking forward to the return of warmer weather and wish you all a very happy spring! Parent/Guardian Input on Placement: The deadline for parents/guardians to share any information they wished to be considered regarding placement is Monday April 25th.   Letters should be sent to the main office or emailed to Mrs. Charles at acharles@concordps.org  and should include specific information related to your child such as areas of concern for learning or observations of the type of classroom environment you feel would best suit your child’s needs.  Requests for specific teachers should not be made and such requests
