Fall is finally here!  We have enjoyed a fabulous first month of school and have been very busy settling back into routines and getting to know our new students. This month, we will begin the first of many of our emergency preparedness drills.  In collaboration with our School Resource Officer, Detective Scott Camilleri, our students and staff will begin practicing the following components of our district emergency plan:  Bus Evacuations, a Whole School Evacuation, a Fire Drill and a Lockdown Drill. I am happy to share that, at last week’s Town Meeting, the CPS budget was passed.  We are thrilled that all elementary students will begin learning Spanish as part of the new Elementary World Language Program and look forward to the hiring process being completed and welcoming a new Spanish teacher to Thoreau! Coats for Kids: Concord Middle School’s Coats for Kids Club needs our help in collecting coats for Anton’s Cleaners annual Coats for Kids drive.   They are accepting all winter coats – kids, adults and babies – that are in good wearable condition.  They cannot accept vests, hats, gloves or snow pants.   Please donate coats that you would give a friend to wear in our donation box in the lobby.  Coats are being collected through January 6th, 2017.  Thank you for your generosity.
